About Dr. Lovell
Education & Training

I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, and went on to receive my Master’s Degree and Ph.D. in Clinical Child Psychology from Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC). I also received my graduate certificate in Women’s Studies. I then completed my APA pre-doctoral internship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (Rutgers) in Newark, New Jersey.

After completing my PhD, I became a postdoctoral fellow in the Irving Harris Program at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine. I developed a specialization in infant mental health while working in an integrated primary care setting as a mental health consultant. I worked with an amazing interdisciplinary team at Children’s Hospital Colorado in Project CLIMB (Consultation & Liaison in Mental Health & Behavior), the Healthy Steps program, and at KidStreet.
Career

In fall 2016, I joined the faculty in the Department of Psychology at California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB). I am an Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology and I work with students within my Health and Wellness Research Lab.

Before coming to Monterey, I worked for two years as an Assistant Professor in the PhD Clinical Psychology program at the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University, Fresno. I enjoyed teaching about research and clinical skills.
I am a licensed psychologist in California (#28018) and a National Register Health Service Provider (#55058). I am not currently practicing, but I may be looking for opportunities in the area.
